How to deal with low search volume?

Firstly, search volume is all about the number of searches that a particular keyword gets

Some keywords are seasonal. The problem with low search volume is that people search these keywords only in specific time or a certain situation.

As you can see in the above image, the rise and fall of the demand are same for all keyword.

Even at the lowest point of the graph, the search volume is quite high for the most keyword.

You can find the search volume of any keyword using Google keyword planner as I did.

Search Google keyword planner in Google search engine and log in using your g-mail account.

You will see a screen as below:

Click on “Get search volume data and trends” option

Then enter the keyword and click “Get search volume”

For more clarity, use few another keyword online checker.

There are several options, I prefer and SERPS as they have some great interface.

Using these tools, you’ll get a clear picture of your keyword’s search volume.

If you feel that keyword is too unusual, you can search in Google keyword planner and you won’t get any search volume.

For such less volume, you’re not allowed to run paid advertisement on Google.

But here is the trick.

If the search volume is less, it means, the keyword is too specific. They perform better than general keywords in most cases in paid campaign.

Before that, you should know how general or specific a particular keyword should be

It’s a complex question

The basic SEO is that if you want users to find your site online, you need to rank for keywords that they use.

That likely won’t get a lot of searches. What you need to do is generalize.

Think about keywords that are related, but cover few more numbers

So for the keyword “dog kennel” a great alternative would be “dog crate”. Have a look at the below image

Using these two keywords would yield you better results if the keyword is too specific.

Perform technical SEO

The most important factor of technical SEO are the H1 tags and H2 tags.

H1 tags are the title of your web page/blog

H2 tags are the subtitles in the articles.

Here are some of the rules for creating great content:

  • Create content using subheadings, images, and other media
  • Incorporate the article with facts, studies, and data
  • Use shorter sentences and paragraphs, as it’s easier for readers to read.
